Five game modes

Floppaland: the main game, a 3D sandbox adventure across an ocean of islands. Wiki →
Floppa Kart: kart racing with cups, items, bikes, quads and a boat mode. Wiki →
Floppa Party: a board game with 3 boards and 8 minigames. Wiki →
Floppatopia: a team RPG with an inn, roads that split and turn-based battles (in development). Wiki →
Floppa Odyssey: a 3D platformer with a palace hub and paintings to jump into (in development). Wiki →

Character customizer

Every mode uses the characters you make in the Customize editor: species, colours, face, outfits, hats and accessories. You can keep 5 saved looks and race, party or adventure as any of them. The Photo tab saves a picture of your character with a background (wardrobe, green screen, colours or transparent) and a pose. Try it in your browser: Character Designer.

Keyboard and controller

Every mode can be played with only a controller: the home screen, Floppa Kart, Floppa Odyssey, Floppa Party, Floppatopia and the customizer. D-pad or stick moves, A selects, B goes back, and the selected button has a bright outline. Button hints switch between keyboard and controller depending on what you used last. All key and controller bindings can be changed in Settings, with an extra Floppa Kart Controller section.

Settings and performance

Max FPS is a number you type in (up to 1000), and Max FPS in menus limits the main menu, pause screens and kart menus (120 by default). Options › Graphics has a performance check with FPS, loading times and tips for older PCs.

20 languages

The game is in 20 languages, the same ones as this website. Pick yours with the flag menu at the top of this page.

Updates and patch notes

Every update is on the Updates page, with an RSS feed and optional notifications. Screenshots and clips are on the Media page.

Windows & Linux

The Early Access version runs on Windows. Native Linux builds are coming in the future.

Steam

The Steam page opens before release, and the wishlist button on this site will go live then.

Android

Prepared, but on hold because of EU rules for app stores. Read why.

Where are my saves?

Your main game is saved in savegame.json in the game folder, next to the game. It saves automatically after changes and every 5 minutes. If the save ever gets damaged, the game loads the backup (savegame.json.bak) by itself. Floppa Odyssey and Floppatopia have their own save files in the same folder. To move your progress to a new version, copy these files into the new game folder.

Low FPS or stutter

Turn on Performance Mode or lower the View Distance in Settings, and try V-Sync on or off. Max FPS can be typed in, and Max FPS in menus keeps the menus light. Updating your graphics driver also often helps.

Resolution and fullscreen

In fullscreen the game always uses your monitor's native resolution, so the Resolution setting is locked there. Godot only lets you pick a resolution in Windowed mode.

Floppaland, the main game

A 3D sandbox adventure on a big ocean (1.6 km across). Start on your home island, then sail out to random islands, mine ore, craft better gear, fight skeletons, goblins, slimes and stone creatures, beat bosses, build rail lines and fly up to floating islands. Your village of residents, farming, fishing and the Museum are still there to come home to. Alone or online with up to 4 players. About the main game →

Getting started

1. Shake trees for Sticks. 2. In Backpack → Crafting, make a flimsy Axe and Pickaxe. 3. Chop, mine, fish, talk to residents and follow quests. 4. Build a Crafting Table for advanced recipes (the Mayor Office has a permanent one). 5. Town Rating milestones unlock bigger goals like the Museum and the Rowboat.

Controls

Use the on-screen side shortcuts for Backpack, Tool Wheel, Fishdex, Mastery and Collection. All key and controller bindings can be changed in Settings. Walk up to an object until its prompt appears and press Interact. The Collection Journal tracks discovered items, fish, expedition finds and missing blueprints. Full Collection →

Random islands

Islands are generated with random names (like "Misty Cay"). Ordinary ones (Small, Sand, Rocky, Raised), themed ones (Ore Island, Volcanic, Dead Forest, Coral Atoll, Slime Spring, Goblin Fort, Skeleton Grave, Cursed Chest, Ruined Expedition, Arena, Dreadwater Spires and more) and climate islands (Sunscorched Mesa, Desert Islet, Frostbound Highlands, Frozen Islet). Rarer metals show up more the farther out you go.

Fishing

64 fish to discover, each caught with a star quality from 1 to 5. Rods go from Flimsy to Blackstone, and catching fish even unlocks new species for your character, like the Fox after 10 fish. Want a taste? Try the little browser minigame.

Fish list

All fish with icon, value and catch chance are in the Fishdex.

Farming & cooking

Till grass with the Hoe and plant Turnip (2 days), Carrot (3), Tomato (4) or Pumpkin (5). Crops follow the seasons, and Compost Fertilizer gives an extra harvest and a better chance of prime crops. Cook at a Cooking Pot: Grilled Turnip (Haste), Carrot Soup (Regen), Tomato Stew (Might), Pumpkin Soup (Guard) and Garden Medley (all four). A higher Cooking level heals more and makes buffs last longer.

Residents & requests

Ten residents live on your island, each a different animal with their own personality and look: Leo the bear, Jack the dog, Morty the possum, Lynn the fox, Nix the bat, Ace the boar, Zack the raccoon, Zig the rabbit, Rex the dragon and Toby the deer. Talk daily and do their requests (sticks, wood, stone, seashells, coral or a fossil) for coins, XP and friendship hearts. They even fight back when enemies come close. Other helpers: the Tinkerer (boat), the Guide (Expedition Almanac), the Museum Curator and a Traveling Merchant at sea in the evening.

Your home & upgrades

Place your Tent with the Tent Kit (a welcome gift from the Mentor). At the Home Upgrades desk in the Mayor Office it grows through eight levels: Tent, House, Bigger House, Side Room, Second Side Room, Upstairs, Basement and Storage Expansion, and the house storage grows from 80 up to 1600 slots. Every upgrade becomes a home loan you pay off at the ATM; the next one unlocks once it is paid, and the build is done the next day.
Outside, your home needs more ground as it grows: 3×3 as a tent, 5×5 as a house and 7×7 from the Side Room on. Clear the trees, stones and things around it, or move it with a Relocation Kit. The desk also changes the roof, walls, door and mailbox, and shows your home score with tips. Finish every level and pay off the loan for the Golden Floppa Statue.Homes from the 3x3 tent to the 7x7 manor, next to a 5x5 villager house

Furniture sets

Decorate mode has a Shop tab with four sets of six pieces: Cozy Cabin (armchair, sofa, bookshelf, round rug, fireplace, floor lamp), Beach House (lounger, parasol, surfboard stand, potted palm, hammock, shell lamp), Spooky Manor (pumpkin lantern, candelabra, bubbling cauldron, grandfather clock, wingback chair, coffin shelf) and Royal (throne, table, banner, golden candelabra, red carpet, treasure chest). Buy pieces with coins (800 to 6,000 each); they go straight into your House Storage. Place all six pieces of a set in your home for a big home score bonus. Press Interact to sit on chairs, sofas, benches, the hammock and the throne (move or jump to get up). Sofas, benches and the hammock fit two: press A or D to scoot to the other spot, and to switch lamps, candles and the fireplace on or off.The four furniture sets

Jump Pads

Craft a Jump Pad at a Crafting Table from Lv.10 (8 Wood, 4 Stone, 3 Iron, 2 Rope). Place it outside on a 2×2 spot. Step into the middle and it launches you about 6 m up, while its deck flashes blue. Stand next to it and press G (Pick Up) to take it back; it is reusable. Two jump pads, one flashing blue

Ziplines

Craft a Zipline Kit from Lv.12 (12 Wood, 2 Bronze, 6 Iron, 5 Rope). Place the start pole, then the end pole 4 to 64 m away; each pole takes one cell. Walk under the cable anywhere along it and press F (Ride): you hang from a magnet handle and slide the way you are looking. Press Jump to let go early, and G (Pick Up) to take the whole zipline back.A zipline with two poles and a rider's magnet handle on the cable

Skateboard

Ride a skateboard with W to push and steer with A and D. Press S from a standstill to ride fakie (backwards); W brakes then. Press R (pad X) for a revert: the board spins 180 degrees and you keep your speed. Press T (pad: D-pad down) to switch stance and face the other way on the board. From a standstill, W always pushes away from the camera. Fall off too hard and you bail with ragdoll physics.

Ragdoll

When you bail, your character tumbles with real physics. It gets up by itself once it lies still, or press Jump to get up sooner.

Testing World

A sandbox world for trying things out: block ground you can landscape at any level, a skate park with ready boards, fishing spots, your own home to walk into and display homes for every home level. Placing furniture there is free, and nothing you unlock there counts for your real save or achievements.

Building & landscaping

Press L for Landscaping: remove ground, place Grass, Slimy Grass or Sand, raise or lower terrain, lay dirt, stone or brick paths, place or drain water and plant Hanging Vines. Out on expedition islands every layer can be edited, so you can dig, build towers and walls. Your home island stays flat around the plaza. Furniture and decorations go on a grid, and your Tent is your first home.

Playing together

Online co-op for up to 4 players (host + 3 friends). The host owns the world; every guest keeps their own level, backpack and friendships. Shared-world kits like the Tent and the Museum only go to the host. A friend can ride in your Rowboat's passenger seat.

Quest Log

Press J (or the Quests button) to open the Quest Log. Tabs: Main (story chapters and the Town Rating), NPC / Side (villager favors and side quests), Daily (new tasks every in-game day at 00:00), Expeditions and Pinned. A row at the top shows how far you are in each tab. Press Pin on up to 3 quests to keep them on your screen with their progress while you play.

Collection Journal

The journal tracks every item, tool, fish, expedition find and missing blueprint you have discovered. Full Collection Journal →

Fishing card

Save your trophy shelf as a picture to share. Fishing starts with a 3-second countdown.

Crafting & blueprints

Basic recipes like the Crafting Table and flimsy tools need no blueprint. Advanced recipes need a Crafting Table. Axes, pickaxes, shovels, fishing rods, bows and swords unlock through player level and any required Mastery skill, never through blueprints. Decorations (chairs, tables, lamps, planters, displays and more), the Computer and the Rowboat use blueprints: the Tinkerer sells a few decoration blueprints each day. Full recipe list →

Combat

Swords go from Wood (Lv.1) through Stone, Bronze, Iron and Gold to Blackstone, plus heavy Greatswords (+60% damage, slower). Bows go from the Hunting Bow (Lv.7) to Blackstone, with normal, Fire (burn) and Ice (slow) arrows; every crafted bow rolls its own strength and durability. Mastery adds Guard with a perfect parry and Sweeping Strike. Dodging gives a moment of invincibility, health regenerates out of combat, and meals heal and buff you. In the Arena you fight up to 25 waves with a short rest between them, and you get 15 arrows back each rest.

Levels & Mastery

Everything you do gives XP, and each level needs a bit more than the last. New gear unlocks by level: stone tools at Lv.4, bronze at Lv.8, iron at Lv.12, gold at Lv.15, blackstone at Lv.18. Five Mastery trees (Fishing, Lumberjack, Mining, Bow, Melee) give extra skills up to Lv.20, like Fire and Ice Arrows, parrying and charged chops. Press K to open them.

Armor & crystals

Armor has four slots (head, body, legs, feet): Wood, Stone, Bronze, Iron, Gold, Skyglass and Blackstone. Boots add more: Swift Boots run faster, Ripple Boots walk on water, Stormstep Boots do both. Heart and Mana Crystals (from bosses and stone creatures) each raise your max by 2%, up to 10 times.

Wings & flying

Hold Space in the air to flap. Fledgling Wings (Lv.4, about 1.6 s of flight), Feather Wings (Lv.9, 2.4 s then a glide), Angel Wings (Lv.13, 3.6 s) and Flame Wings (Lv.18, 5 s with a sparkle trail). The better ones need sky materials, and chests on floating islands can drop wings too. Landing on any floating island refills your flight.

Floating islands

Nine islands float 380 to 900 m from home, in three layers. Low Sky (4 islands, 19 m up) needs Fledgling Wings: launch from the top of Granite Peak or a tall tower you build. High Sky (4 islands, 31 m) needs Feather Wings. The Storm island (44 m) needs Angel or Flame Wings and is home to the Storm Warden. Biomes: Meadow, Blossom, Frostcap and Emberwild. Look for Sky Shards, Sky Bloom, Cloud Gel, Hanging Vines and treasure chests, but watch out for skeleton archers on the edges.

Granite Peak

The tallest island in the world, a stone mountain far out at sea with ore veins. It is guarded by stone creatures: Stone Golems, Rock Crawlers and Boulder Throwers. Arrows bounce off them and swords do little, but right after they attack their shell glows orange and takes extra damage, and the core on their back takes double. The Granite Titan waits at the summit.

Enemies

Slimes (blue, green, amber, purple, red as they get stronger) and goblins near home. Skeletons get stronger the farther you sail: archers, raiders, deckhands, spotters and, from 350 m, shieldbearers that block arrows from the front. You can tell their level by their helmets and crowns. Skeleton camps return after 3 days, and skeleton pirate boats, the Deep Corsair and a Ghost Ship sail the outer sea.

Bosses

Four bosses live at fixed places and come back 30 minutes after you beat them: the Dune Tyrant (Sunscorched Mesa), the Frost Warden (Frostbound Highlands), the Storm Warden (the Storm island in the sky) and the Granite Titan (top of Granite Peak). Normally they are weaker, but during a Blood Eclipse they fight at full strength. Tip for the Titan: build a wall at least 2 blocks tall. If he charges into it, he is stunned and takes extra damage.

Dying & tombstones

When you die you drop 10% of your coins into a tombstone where you fell. If that spot is over water, the tombstone goes to the nearest dry ground. Die at the same tombstone again and the coins stack. Walk up and press Interact to take them back. You respawn on your home island with a few seconds of protection.

Boss trophies

Each boss drops its own trophy: Dune Tyrant, Frost Warden, Storm Warden and Granite Titan. You always get one the first time you win, and after that sometimes (more often during a Blood Eclipse). Place them from your decorations, indoors or outside.

Time, Blood Eclipse & Floppa Friday

A game day passes in about 14 real minutes, with real months and seasons. On the last night of every month a Blood Eclipse turns enemies stronger, bosses fight at full strength and you earn a bit more XP; you get a warning the day before. On Floppa Friday, friendship and island quest rewards are 10% higher. The weather changes between clear, rain and storms.

Rails & minecarts

From Lv.10 craft Rails, Power Rails (boost), Brake Rails and Minecarts, then lay them on blocks. Rails join into corners, junctions and slopes by themselves. Ride with W, brake with S, and pick a direction with A/D when the cart stops at a junction. Build stations with platforms and signs and connect your home island to every biome. Up to 16 carts.

Skateboard, ziplines & more

Ride a Skateboard with ollies, tricks and grind rails, build Wood Ramps, Jump Pads and Ziplines, look far with Binoculars or play on a Computer. Rest at a Campfire to skip to morning, midday or evening.

Deserts & frozen islands

Deserts give Cactus Flesh (restores stamina), Spines, Cuttings you can replant and rare Desert Glass. Frozen islands give Ice Shards, Frozen Wood and rare Frost Crystals, which grow back after 4 days. Traders buy all of them.

Getting the Rowboat

Raise your Town Rating to 1.5★, then visit the Tinkerer, who handles the Rowboat, rope and advanced blueprints. Your boat is returned to the main-island dock, and the Tinkerer can locate it or send it back. In co-op a second player can ride in the passenger seat.

Museum

Place or visit the Museum once it is unlocked. Dig up fossils and let the Curator assess them first. Fish, seashells, coral and expedition artifacts can be donated directly. A donated specimen is recorded permanently for that save and fills the museum checklists.

Biomes & islands

Every island keeps its original type, even after landscaping: ordinary islands, themed ones (Ore, Volcanic, Coral Atoll, Skeleton Grave, Arena and more) and climate islands. Deserts (Sunscorched Mesa, Desert Islets) lie in the outer ocean and give Cactus Flesh, Spines, Cuttings and rare Desert Glass. Frozen islands lie deeper in Dreadwater and give Ice Shards, Frozen Wood and rare Frost Crystal. Cacti can be farmed: plant a Cutting on clear sand and it matures in 2 in-game days.

Ocean zones

Recommended levels, not restrictions: Coastal Waters (0 m, Lv.1+), Open Sea (100 m, Lv.3+), Outer Reaches (200 m, Lv.6+, roaming skeletons from about 220 m), Deep Expanse (350 m, Lv.10+, skeleton camps), Abyssal Reach (550 m, Lv.14+), Dreadwater (650 m, Lv.18+, Skeleton Corsair ships). You can sail anywhere at any level, and a warning shows if you go below the recommendation.

Town Rating

The Town Rating unlocks the big steps. 0.5★: one friendship heart and one resident request (reward: Tent Kit). 1★: place your Tent and a Crafting Table (reward: Museum Location Kit). 1.5★: place the Museum, lay 5 paths and finish 5 requests (reward: the Rowboat). More stars are coming later.

Floppatopia

A team RPG in the Floppaland universe. Baron Blank, a portrait come to life, stole the villagers' faces and flung them onto monsters. Lead your party across eight worlds to win them back, then take on a ninth island after the story. See what's built →

📖 Floppatopia · Cast your story

Who plays the Curator, the Fisher, the Warrior and the others, and who is Baron Blank? Keep the island villagers or make every role in the character designer, with their own name. Bosses wear the faces of your cast.

📖 Floppatopia · Your team

Floppa starts alone. Friends join on the road and every villager you rescue from a boss joins too: up to eleven heroes. Four fight and the rest wait on the bench, still learning. There are 13 classes (six from the start) with eight skills each, and the Class Hall in every town lets a hero change class without losing their level.

📖 Floppatopia · World map

Eight worlds, each its own map with levels, a town, a secret level and the boss. Beat the boss and the next world opens; earlier worlds stay open for training. New roads glow pink, cleared ones turn grey, and a road gets its golden flag once every way is walked.

📖 Floppatopia · Roads and forks

Every level is a road the team walks as a 3D side-scroller. Monsters jump out, chests appear (some bite), shops and campfires wait along the way. Roads split, join again and even branch three ways: at a fork the road map opens big and you pick the way. Press M to see the map while you walk.

📖 Floppatopia · Battles

Turn-based and easy to learn: Fight, Skills, Snacks, Help a friend or Guard. You choose for your own hero; the others act on their own, based on class, personality and friendships. Hit a monster wearing a stolen face to get a timing bar (Face Hit). Below half HP every boss gets serious.

📖 Floppatopia · The inn

After every level the team rests at a cozy two-storey inn: rooms, breakfast, requests from your heroes, night events and a Game Corner with a prize wheel. Sharing rooms and outings grow friendships, which unlock team moves in battle.

Floppa Odyssey

A 3D platformer in its own world. Princess Sogga's palace has gone dark: Bingus hid every Golden Shrimp inside the palace's magic paintings. Jump into the paintings, win the shrimp back and open the palace again, one door at a time. See what's built →

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Friendly, never cruel

No game over: falling off costs 10 coins and puts you back on safe ground after a moment of darkness, and fainting sends you back to the start of the level. Every shrimp, coin record and opened door is saved as you go. The title screen has Continue, New game, Speedrun mode and Controls.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Floppa Palace (hub)

The palace opens up bit by bit. Every door shows how many shrimp it needs (0, 1, 3 and 8 in the lobby, 12 for the boss door, 20 in the basement, 30 and 50 upstairs). Hazel the Hint Keeper in the lobby always knows your next door. Secrets in the palace itself: a hidden slide, a rooftop climb, a dive to the bottom of the lake and stepping stones round the keep. The grounds are a whole kingdom: a town wall with a gatehouse, the royal road, Floppa Harbour with a lighthouse to climb, guards and townsfolk. The 50 door leads up into the keep on the palace roof, with Sky Spire and Rainbow Rush in its hall and a belfry at the top.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · The Floppa Kingdom

The palace grounds are a walled kingdom. A new game starts at Floppa Harbour: walk through the gatehouse and up the royal road to the palace. On the way: guards at the gate and the palace door, townsfolk walking about, flags on every tower and birds in the sky. From the harbour, the long pier leads to a lighthouse with ledges to climb.

The Floppa Kingdom gatehouse

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · The keep

The keep sits on the palace roof, behind the 50-shrimp door on the upper floor. Its hall holds the Sky Spire and Rainbow Rush paintings. Climb to the gallery, out onto the balconies (one has stepping stones round the back to a secret shrimp), up the wall-jump shaft to the roof walk, and into the belfry to ring the bell. Every way into the keep is sealed until you have 50 shrimp.

The palace keep

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Paintings and worlds

Jump into a painting and every shrimp in that world is out at once, so you can collect them in any order. Most worlds also hide eight red coins, worth one more shrimp, and a set of world coins in their own shape. There are 18 worlds and the palace with 246 Golden Shrimp in all: pick Worlds above to see every one of them.

The last world from the plan. Still a test layout: it is being built next.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Moves

Always with you: triple jump, long jump, ground pound, dive, butt slide, wall kicks, ledge grabs with shimmying and climbing, and swimming.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Cap throw and captures

Throw your cap to hit things or bounce off it in mid-air. Throw it at a creature to take it over: a frog for a huge charged jump, a puffbat to glide across wide gaps, or a heavy rumblerock that smashes cracked ice and walks along the bottom of lakes.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Splash pack

A water backpack for the water levels: hover for a moment and spray away Bingus's goo. Practise in the splash pool in the palace basement.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Map and shrimp list

The pause menu has a map of the area with every shrimp marked, and a shrimp list: a card per world with a dot for every shrimp and its world coins, and a checklist with the name of each shrimp, a hint for the ones still missing and the day you found it. Getting a new shrimp shows SHRIMP GET! with its name, the world and the date.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Speedrun mode

A timer with splits for every new shrimp, your personal best and gold segments, for Any% or All shrimp runs. It never touches your normal save.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Retro mode

Settings › Game mode settings › Retro Mode shows Floppa Odyssey like an old console: 3D at 264p, menus and HUD at 540p, in 4:3 with black bars or stretched. Optional fewer-colours filter. The first time you start Floppa Odyssey it asks: Modern or Retro? You can change it any time.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · Outlines

Settings › Game mode settings › Outline Collectables & Enemies puts a dark outline around shrimp, coins and enemies, so they are easy to spot. In Retro Mode some things, like shrimp, are already outlined by default. Player Outline does the same for your character.

🌟 Floppa Odyssey · World coins

Special coins that never come back once collected, each world with its own: a crown in the palace, a leaf in Bramble Hill Fort, a shell in Sunshell Bay, a lily in Croaker Swamp and a snowflake in Frosty Peaks. Every world with them has 50. The HUD shows how many you hold right now to spend on cosmetics in the shops; when you find a new one it shows found / 50 for a moment.
